Publisher's notes:    The theme of this month's newsletter is all about recharging your batteries, as each of us can tend to get discouraged and give up hope that our inventions will ever succeed in the marketplace. I think that every inventor, at one point or another, has some doubts about his/her product(s). With that in mind, I hope this issue gives you a lift, even if you've read some of these stories elsewhere and, if it does give you a lift, be sure to pass it along to a fellow inventor. Remember: no one goes it alone, and no one gets there without the help of others.

A big "Thanks" goes out to Inventors' Digest for printing the story about my "IMPEACHMENT" Card Game in the March/April issue. The story is on page 28.

Article #1: "20 TIPS FOR A HAPPIER LIFE"

Some people say "one person" can't make a difference, but one person is the only thing that really CAN make a difference. Change happens one person at a time. The following are 20 tips for positive changes and happiness in YOUR life and the lives of the people you interact with:

1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have, or sleep all you want.
3. Trust in God, but lock your car.
4. Believe in your dreams and never laugh at the dreams of others.
5. Believe in love at first sight.
6. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt, but it's the only way to live life completely.
7. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk; you can't steal second base with your foot on first.
8. Call someone you care about.
9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
10. Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
11. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
12. Live the adventure -- live life to the fullest.
13. People can't read minds -- share your thoughts.
14. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
15. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
16. When you lose, don't lose the lesson. (Remember Henry Ford's quote: "Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.")
17. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
18. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
19. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck.
20. Learn the rules, then break some.

Here's one to cut out and paste on your bathroom mirror:

"I had the blues because I had no shoes,
Until upon the street,
I met a man who had no feet."

That one always helps me put things in their proper perspective.

Article #2: "Don't Quit"

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And when you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don't give up though the pace seems slow --
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out --
The silver lining to the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit --
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Article #3: "TIME Clock"

Imagine that there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course !!!

Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this time you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow." You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.

In gambling, it is often said that you shouldn't bet more than you can afford to lose. In inventing, don't spend more than you can afford to lose because, after all, inventing is a gamble. There's no reason to ever go broke while inventing.
